Local residents and community leaders are invited to celebrate the ribbon cutting of Eagle View Park, a stunning addition to Washougal's recreational landscape. The eagerly anticipated ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 7 at 4 p.m. at the park's location: 600 S Marina Way, Washougal, WA 98671. Nestled between Ninebark Apartments and the Columbia River riparian area, Eagle View Park spans 1 acre and features a concrete paved walking path, meandering trails with seating, artwork, and community gathering spaces.
"We are thrilled to unveil Eagle View Park as a place for families, friends, and individuals to gather, relax, and engage with the outdoors," said Washougal Mayor David Stuebe. "This park stands as a symbol of our commitment to fostering community connections and preserving our city's natural splendor."
Organized as a nature-based experience, Eagle View Park contains three primary gardens—the Discovery Garden, Art Walk, and Log Drive Garden—each with elements that celebrate local ecology, culture, and commerce. Through the use of regionally specific plants, locally sourced materials, and the re-use of native site boulders, the park's character is an homage to the river landscape.
“As a team, we are passionate about projects that celebrate place and highlight community,” commented landscape architect Tommy Solomon of Ground Workshop. “We are excited by the Park’s ability to connect people to nature, strengthening ownership and fostering stewardship for years to come.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will feature remarks from community leaders and project partners. Attendees can look forward to exploring the park's artwork, expansive green spaces, walking trails, and gathering areas designed to accommodate various recreational activities for all ages.
"With the opening of Eagle View Park, we celebrate more than just a physical space. We applaud the collective efforts that brought this vision to life—the partnership between the Port of Camas-Washougal, the City of Washougal, and Killian Pacific; the inspired landscape architect team at Ground Workshop who painted the scenery; the skilled artist, Travis Stewart, who crafted its Welcome Figure 'Quaytskin'; and the countless individuals who will enjoy this place for years to come. As we open, we express gratitude to all those who made this venture possible," said Adam Fractor, Development Manager at Killian Pacific.
Development of Eagle View Park:
In a unique collaboration, Ninebark's developer, Killian Pacific, partnered with the Port of Camas-Washougal to exchange land, aiding the Master Plan for the Camas-Washougal waterfront. The Port gained the property west of Ninebark, while the land Ninebark occupies went to Killian Pacific for its development. Killian Pacific created the 1-acre public park as part of the deal. The park is managed and maintained by the Ninebark community for 8 years, at which time the city will assume full responsibility. Ownership of both the park and the land lies with the city of Washougal.
