WINTER WEATHER ROADS UPDATE

City of Washougal Latest News Posted on January 19, 2024

Please remain patient as CWFD Chief Free requested of everyone yesterday! If you don’t need to be out, please stay safe and warm in your residence.

Our crews have been able to effectively keep all the bold black lines on the map below clear and passable during the duration of the storm except for anything east of the intersection of W Street & 39th Street. This includes the loop (Summer Slope North & a small piece of Columbia View), due to the extreme difficulty crews were having based on the accumulation of ice and significant amount of time it was taking to clear.

With the refreeze last night we had crews working through the night to ensure that we didn’t lose any ground, which was successful. However, with the hardening of the ice/snow on the ground we were also unable to make any new headway.

Today, as the temperatures rise above freezing, we hope to make headway and get back to the Red Priority 1’s and the down the line to 2’s and 3’s, on the map below.

We will continue to work on all of these priorities through today and the weekend using all the tools in our toolbox to deliver safe, passable roads for all our citizens.
