Friday March 13th the Camas-Washougal Fire Department will be conducting a training burn on a house located in the Prune Hill area. This training follows the National Fire Protection Association guidelines and is supervised by the CWFD training officer. Permits with Southwest Washington Air Pollution Control, City of Camas Building Department and the Camas-Washougal Fire Marshal’s Office have been completed. 911 agencies for Clark County, WA and Multnomah County, OR have been notified in advance. A notification mailer was sent out to addresses within 1500 feet of the training site.
The first several hours of training will be unremarkable. Starting at some point around noon or thereafter a plume of smoke may be visible from a distance and continue for a couple of hours. The owners of the property with guidance from the Fire Marshal’s Office acquired and paid for the permits required. This rare but valuable live fire training for our fire crews is critical to advance the skills they would use in serving our communities.
If you receive any phone calls, complaints etc. and there is a need for further information/conversation please have them contact Randy Miller, Deputy Fire Marshal at 360-518-2780.
