The City of Washougal is now accepting applications from eligible Washougal residents to fill a vacancy in Position #4 on the City Council.
The process will be as follows:
Tuesday, January 4th – applications due by 5:00 pm to the City Clerk.
Monday, January 10th – Interviews will take place and appointment may occur at the Council meeting at 7:00 pm.
Due to the timing of this mid-term vacancy, Council Position #4 will be part of the 2023 primary and general election cycle. The individual appointed to Position #4 will serve until the results of the November 2023 general election are certified in late November 2023, at which time the individual elected to Position #4 will take office and serve until the expiration of the Position #4 term at the end of 2027. This is the normal process when there is a council vacancy per RCW 42.12.070.
To be eligible to be appointed to the Washougal City Council, you:
- Must have continuously resided within the Washougal city limits for a minimum of one year prior to your appointment to the Council, and
- Must be a registered voter in the City of Washougal.
