Message from the Chief

Washougal is a growing community of rare natural beauty, rich history and a bright future. Our agency of 19 sworn officers and support staff face significant challenges with the continued growth of our community. Working together with our residents, city administration and other departments, we will preserve the quality of life that all of us have come to know and expect in Washougal.

As the saying goes “pride runs deep” and it certainly does within the Washougal Police Department. We are proud of our community and our efforts to make Washougal a safe, peaceful place to live, work and visit.  It is my goal that the citizens of our community be equally proud of their Police Department. Every day, and in everything we do at the Washougal Police Department, we are working to maintain your continued trust and support.

Clark County now has a Non-Emergency Law Enforcement Number. Citizens may now dial 311 to report any non-emergency problems. 311 should be used for things like abandoned vehicles, noise complaints, parking issues or other routine complaints where safety is not an issue. All medical calls should still go to 911.

Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency (CRESA) is excited to announce a new number for the community to use to report non-emergency law enforcement issues.

The process to become a Reserve Officer begins in the fall with a physical agility test depending on the departments need for more Reserve Officers. Applicants that successfully complete the physical agility then proceed to a general knowledge written test.  Applicants successfully passing the written test will be scheduled for an oral interview panel. Applicants successfully completing all phases of testing and then placed on an eligibility list based on their scores.

The City of Washougal and Washougal Police Department are committed to you and your families safety and security. Please check out the below resources for various safety and prevention methods and tips.
