Police Headquarters
Washougal is a growing community of rare natural beauty, rich history and a bright future. Washougal is the ninth fastest growing community in the state of Washington and the second fastest in Clark County.

New residential construction within Washougal has recently averaged nearly 400 homes per year. It is estimated that Washougal will continue to grow at an annual rate of five percent in the foreseeable future.

For all its growth, Washougal boasts a very liveable community. Numerous parks, ball fields, newer schools, bike lanes, green belts and beaches are framed by the vista of the Columbia River and back dropped by Oregon's Mount Hood. Washougal has public docks, a four-lane public boat launch and a marina offering covered moorage. The recently dedicated Capt. William Clark Park consists of 75 acres of native foliage and sandy beaches. 2007 saw the completion of the Downtown Revitalization Project Phase 1 - which includes the new Reflection Plaza.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q:
When a car is stopped, it appears that the officer is “sneaking up” on the driver. At night, the officer's shine their lights into the car. Why is that?

A: Officers are trained to minimize their exposure to traffic and potential danger from within the vehicle. At night, the bright lights illuminate the interior of the vehicle, which is another safety consideration for the officer.
