Q:Where is the Camas-Washougal Animal Shelter located?

Q:Do pets need to be licensed?

A. All dogs older than six months are required to be licensed. Call 835-8701 for more information.

 

Q:What does it cost to license a pet in the City of Camas and where can a person obtain a pet license or get a replacement license tag?

A. Camas Dog License can be obtained at Camas City Hall, 616 NE Fourth Avenue Camas, WA. Phone 360-834-2462. You must show proof of current rabies vaccination at that time. The cost is $25.00 for a lifetime license.

 

Q. What does it cost to license a pet in the City of Washougal and where can a person obtain a pet license or get a replacement license tag? 

A. A Washougal dog license can be obtained at Washougal City Hall, 1701 C Street Washougal, WA. Phone 360-835-8501. You must show proof of current rabies vaccination at that time. The cost is $25.00 for a lifetime license. In Washougal, if you can provide proof that your dog has been spayed or neutered at the time of licensing the fee is reduced to $15.00.

 

Q. Is there a leash law?

A. Yes. All dogs are required to be on leash within the Camas-Washougal city limits.

 

Q. What can be done if a neighbor's pets are loose and are creating a nuisance?

A. Call Animal Control immediately at 835-8701 and request that an Animal Shelter Officer investigate your complaint. If violations of local ordinances are found, the pet owner may be cited or the animal(s) may be taken into custody. If this occurs, the owner must pay fees and/or penalties when redeeming the animal from the animal shelter. When serious violations are reported such as animal cruelty or dangerous animals, you may need to be willing to testify in court. Additionally, animal control officers may need to ask you to help establish additional evidence (i.e. testimony from neighbors) so they may take enforcement action.

 

Q. What is the law regarding animals creating a noise nuisance? A. It is a violation of the city ordinances to allow your animal to vocalize in such a manner that is disturbing to other citizens. Click here for additional information.

 

Q. What should I do about nuisance wildlife in my yard?

A. The Washington State Department of Wildlife trains and licenses Nuisance Wildlife Control Operators (NWCO) to assist with nuisance wildlife problems. For more information, call the Washington State Department of Wildlife at (360) 696-6211.
